The MISSION ETERNITY SARCOPHAGUS has been built between February and June 2006. The most intensive construction phase culminated in the public pre-opening on June 16, 2006. In collaboration with G18, a culture space near the etoy location at SUPERTANKER, etoy invited friends and press for a first peek at the fully installed back wall of the SARCOPHAGUS
During the time before the first opening, the production demanded work literally day and night. etoy.AGENTS spent all their time at the construction site, supported by the resourceful and smart engineers Styro and Bruno, without whom no SARCOPHAGUS could have come into existence.
The public production offered insights into the building of one of the more expensive media art projects to date: both Andrea Reiter and etoy documented the production process during these months with regular shootings on sight and blog entries that document the state of construction.
This mobile footage by styro shows technology tests the night before the pre-opening.
